Veni, Vidi, Vici! Come, see, and conquer this adventure story set in Roman-Britain during the second century after Hadrian’s Wall was completed. Discharged because of a battle wound, a young Roman officer tries to discover the truth about his father’s missing legion with the help of an ex-slave. Students learn about the history and geography of Britain and the Roman Army while working on deciphering context clues, answering rich comprehension questions, and studying vocabulary. In addition, students create a hands-on project to further their learning about the historical period of the book.
Outside Classwork: Students are assigned reading, comprehension building questions, and vocabulary weekly.
Instructor: Laurie Weir
