Literature: Short Stories With Surprise Endings (Wed. 10:30-11:45 10:30-11:45)
Literature: Short Stories With Surprise Endings
2 Weeks: October 17, 24
Location: Mission Viejo Family YMCA
Two famous short stories; “The Man Who Had No Eyes” and “The Necklace” are read in this two-week course. Students will enjoy discussing the details and twists of these stories as they learn about elements that create surprise endings. In addition, students practice annotating by identifying literary devices such as allusions and foreshadowing. As we read, annotate, and discuss these memorable stories, students practice the basics of analyzing literature. To make the most of our time, students read one story before the first day of class and complete some pre-class assignments. Students are then ready to discuss the story on the first day.
Outside classwork: Students read short stories prior to the class period and complete assignments.
