To be successful in writing, students must be able to construct meaningful and complex sentences. This course is dedicated to mastering sentences and paragraph formats. Students learn to use MLA format, important grammar rules, as well as topic and clincher sentences to improve their writing with elaboration, sentence variety, word choice, voice, and conventions. In addition, we will work on organizing thoughts and ideas. Each week will include a mini-lesson; students create an anchor chart of key concepts with the instructor to use as a reference. The goal is for students to become more confident writers.
Outside Classwork: Depending on skill up to an hour a week
Instructor: Laurie Weir & Adrienne Collins
