American Treasures: Analyzing Famous Documents
5 Weeks: September 11, 18, 25 October 2, 9
Location: Mission Viejo Family YMCA
“The Star Spangled Banner,” “The Gettysburg Address,” and “The Olive Branch Petition” are some of the most important documents in America's history, but what do they all mean? In this document analysis class, students participate in class discussions and answer comprehension questions in order to have a deeper understanding of the work that helped shape America. This course includes fun activities, and students will be challenged with key vocabulary regarding the events that unfolded during this time period.
Outside Classwork: Students read related materials and work on various projects. No more than 30 minutes a week.
