Class Update (Class 11)
Students ...
  • played the popcorn game to review basic facts. 
  • practiced double digit multiplication using  white boards. Everyone worked very hard! 
  • took turns being the teacher and giving directions on how to multiply double digits. 
Homework:
  • Practice double-digit multiplication using the worksheet. (I told students to see if they could work on two problems each day. 
  • On the backside of the worksheet, practice a set of facts on Thursday, Friday, and Monday. 
  • Feel free to use the links sent out last week or any of the Quizlet links posted below.

Class Update (Class 10)
Students ...
  • played the line up game to review x2 - x6 facts. 
  • practiced the sixes, sevens, and eights by seeing how many facts you know in two minutes and then finish up those that need to be figured out. (Red Light, Green Light Activity)
  • reviewed multiplying by nines by quizzing a partner.
  • reviewed how to  multiply a one digit by a three digit number.
  • ​learned double digit multiplication. 
  • played the "Grab It" game to review all the facts. 
​Homework:  *I sent an email with links to the Boom Cards. 
Wednesday - practice the facts by completing the multiplication chart. First complete all the facts that you know, then work on facts you don't know. 
Thursday - practice multiplying by nines by playing a matching game several times.

Students...
  • reviewed the hard to learn facts with a flashcard drill. (6, 7, 8)
  • multiplied six using larger numbers. 
  • reviewed the elevens trick to solve multiplying eleven by a two digit number.
  • wrote the multiples of nine to find see the patterns that are created.
  • practiced the nines trick using your fingers to solve problems multiplied by nine. 
  • reviewed multiplying by twelves and learned that 12 x 12 = 144. 
Homework:
Wednesday - Complete the multiplication wheels.
Thursday - Practice multiplying larger numbers by completing half of the problems on the back of your worksheet.
Friday - Continue to practice multiplying larger numbers.

  • reviewed the multiplication rule for six and the tricks to help recall the facts quickly. Then played "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire x6")
  • introduced the rules for seven and eights and practiced solving the multiplication fact using the rule.

  • reviewed facts we have covered further by going on a scavenger hunt and answering questions.
  • were introduced to multiplying by sixes and given tips to help memorize these more difficult facts.
  • played "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" to practice the sixes. Students did not reach the top this week.

Wednesday - complete the review section on your worksheet for Wednesday.  Practice skip counting by threes to 36 forward and backward. Next week we will start the threes. 
Thursday - complete the review section on your worksheet for Thursday. Play "Match" using the Quizlet link. See if you can beat your score. 
Friday - finish your multiplication worksheet
Monday - On the backside of your worksheet, write the multiples of three and four.  (skip-counting numbers)

  • learned how to play multiplication war while reviewing x0, x1, and x2.
  • practiced multiplying larger numbers with whiteboards.
  • took a look at the multiplication chart to see how many facts we already know.
  • learned the rules for multiplying by fives, tens, and elevens. Also, they learned a really neat trick for multiplying elevens by a two digit number.

  • introduced multiplication vocabulary and played a game with the words
  • learned that an array is a set that shows equal rows and columns.
  • built arrays with objects to show that repeated addition and multiplication are related. 
  • started a worksheet by rolling dice, creating arrays on a graph paper, and writing down the addition and multiplication facts related to the arrays. They learned that multiplication is a shortcut for addition.
Homework:
  1. Finish the array worksheet started during class. (Turn in next week) We used two dice during class. The goal is to create ten different arrays and write down the repeated addition problems and multiplication problems.
